Personal Training.
People of all levels of fitness recognise the benefits of Personal Training, from those who have never exercised before through to professional sports people. Even those who consider themselves very fit find the services of a Personal Trainer or coach invaluable. Whatever the level of ability, whatever the individual’s personal goal, the trainer will significantly contribute to his or her progression.
The Studio 121 Process
Personal training clients start the process with a thorough consultation and assessment. This ensures a safe entry to exercise and helps structure an effective training programme that will assist the client to achieve their goals most efficiently.
Prior to the commencement of exercise we conduct a movement screen using the most credible and respected system available – the FMS (functional movement screen). The movement screen identifies dysfunctional movement patterns which may lead to future injury if ignored. We also conduct a more detailed movement asssessment which helps the Trainer understand the clients level of ability and their familiarity with primary movement patterns.
We also offer full nutritional support to our clients as part of our standard Personal Training service. Studio 121 has recently been accredited by Precision Nutrition which is a world leader in Nutritional Education and this nutritional approach has already assisted our clients achieve remarkable body transformation results.
The exercise programme for each client is then tailored to meet the demands of the goals set out during the consultation. However we believe that the correct performance of primary movements is the precursor to an effective programme and we pride ourselves in giving all our clients the skills to perform the basic fundamental exercises safely and effectively.
Functional Training
Studio 121 is a Functional training gym – this means that we train our clients with exercises that help them perform better in either their working environment, the home, in leisure activities or their chosen sport. To this end we don’t need fixed machine strength equipment – we use equipment that allows the body to move freely and naturally such as Kettlebells, VIPRs, Medicine Balls, Powerbags, Free weights, Suspension Systems, Bosu’s and Bulgarian Bags.
Ongoing Assessment
In order to qualify how the client is progressing and in addition how effective our Training programmes are, it is essential that we regularly assess our clients. So at regular points throughout the clients lifecycle we will be repeating the movement assessments outlined above so we can verify that our clients movement improvements. We also perform a Performance Assessment which is a series of carefully selected exercises that represent the breadth of the strength and endurance spectrum. This information is then used to help with our ongoing programming to help ensure that our clients are continually moving forward and stay motivated.
